Pirkei Avot 2:1: choosing the straight pathאיזו היא דרך ישרה שיבור לו האדם

Presented as what a tradition teaches, attributed to that tradition.

The Mishnah has Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi ask which path a person should choose, and answer: one that is an honour to the one who takes it and brings honour from others. The test of a decision is what it makes of the person making it, and the saying goes on to weigh the loss of a precept against its reward.

Entries in this library keep the tradition label and the editorial state the source gave them. A record marked as awaiting scholarly review is offered as a lead to study, not as settled teaching.
