Terms of Use
WHAT THIS IS, AND WHAT IT IS NOT
Last updated 23 October 2026
These terms are short because the app is simple: it is a reflective companion, not a professional service. By using it you accept them.
Draft for review
Items shown as [TO CONFIRM: …] are outstanding details that only the owner of this app can supply. Where a value is marked proposed, it has been supplied for review and is not yet confirmed — a company, address or mailbox that does not yet exist is not a disclosure. These items are not legal disclosures, and this page should not be relied on until they are confirmed and the wording has been checked by someone qualified to advise on it.
1. Who we are
Talk to the Tree is operated by Talk to the Tree Ltd, at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. You can write to info@talktothetree.app about anything in these terms.
2. What the app is
Talk to the Tree is an AI companion: a language model answering within the app's own library of teachings, practices and resources. It offers reflection, learning and wellbeing guidance drawn from Kabbalah, Tarot, psychology, philosophy and related traditions, with the source and the kind of evidence behind each claim shown where the library holds it.
3. What it is not
- It is not a human adviser, therapist, doctor, counsellor or spiritual authority.
- It is not medical care, diagnosis, treatment or an emergency service.
- It does not provide legal, financial or any other professional advice.
- It cannot know your circumstances, and it can be confidently wrong.
In the United Kingdom, if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For emotional support, Samaritans can be reached on 116 123, free, at any hour. These are UK numbers; if you are elsewhere, use your local emergency number and a local crisis line. The Support page sets this out in more detail.
4. Your account, and the minimum age
Talk to the Tree is for people aged 16 and over, and the app asks you to confirm this before the AI companion or any personal feature opens. It is a declaration, not proof of age: you are never asked for a document, and only your answer is kept. Please give it honestly — these terms are written for someone of 16 or over.
You need an account to keep memories, reflections, saved views or a care circle. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has access. An account should not be created by anyone under 16.
5. Using the app fairly
- Do not use it to harm or deceive anyone, or to break the law.
- Do not rely on it in a situation that needs a qualified professional now.
- Do not attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer it, or to extract the library in bulk.
- Do not post someone else's private information into a conversation or a companion note.
6. What you write stays yours
Your reflections, memories and messages are yours. You give us only the permission needed to store them for you and to show them back to you — and, for a reflection you mark as shared, to show it to the companion holding your active code. Nothing else is done with them.
7. Sharing with a companion
Your care circle shares only what you choose, and only with whoever holds the code. A code can be passed on: if it has gone further than you meant, revoke it from the care circle page. You are responsible for who you give a code to, and for what you write into a reflection you then share.
8. Answers can be wrong
The app generates answers rather than looking them up in a fixed script, so an answer can be inaccurate, incomplete or a poor fit for you. Library records carry their own review state and evidence labels, and drafts are marked as such; where a connection is a modern or psychological interpretation rather than a traditional teaching, it is named that way. Treat every answer as a starting point to think with, not as a fact to act on without checking.
9. Practices carry their own cautions
Some practices in the library — intensive breathwork, flashing or strobing light, fasting, extreme heat or cold — are not suitable for everyone. Where a resource carries a screening question, read it before you begin. If you are unsure whether something is suitable for you, ask a qualified professional rather than the app.
10. Availability and changes
The app is offered as it is, and may change, pause or stop. Sections may be switched off, and the library is corrected and extended over time. Where a change materially affects your rights, these terms and the Privacy Policy are updated with a new date.
11. Responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory rights as a consumer and liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, the app is provided without warranties, and we are not responsible for decisions you take on the strength of an answer it gave. Wording and any cap on liability: [TO CONFIRM: liability wording and any cap].
12. Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time, and delete your account from My Space, which removes your personal records. We may close an account that is being used to harm someone else or to break these terms.
13. Which law applies
These terms are governed by [TO CONFIRM: governing law and courts]. If you live elsewhere, this does not remove the protection of the consumer law where you live.
14. Contact
